Section 1
1.1 What Video file formats should be used?

In general, MPEG2 is best, but DivX offers smallest file sizes.

File types recommended are:
DivX (MPEG4) Audio MP3 - 192kbps.avi
DVD NTSC (MPEG2 4000kbps 29.97fps 720x480).mpg
DVD PAL (MPEG2 4000kbps 25fps 720x576).mpg
MP2 PAL 25fps 480x576,mpg
SVCD NTSC (MPEG2 2376kbps 29.97fps 480x480).mpg
SVCD PAL (MPEG2 2376kbps 25fps 480x576).mpg
VCD NTSC (MPEG1 1150kbps 29.97fps 352x240).mpg
VCD PAL (MPEG1 1150kbps 25fps 352x288).mpg

1.2 What Video file formats are not suppported?

File types not supported include:
Quick Time .mov
Cinepac  .avi
Windows Media Video  .wmv
Real Video  .rmvb
Flash   .swf
PC and PSP MP4  .mp4
iPod MP4   .m4v
3GPP   .3gp

1.3 I've encoded into MPEG2 format on my Mac, but still doesn't play?

Output in MPEG2 on Mac software tends not to use the format required for audio playback in Adscreens.  We suggest you use a format converter program or simple edit software such as Nero Vision Express to save the file in MPEG2 (either DVD or SVCD resolutions) to resolve the problem.

Section 2
2.1 What is the screen resolution for video playback?

Video playback maximum resolution is 720x576 on PAL and 720x480 on NTSC media

2.2 What is the run time per battery belt?

Run time is specified as 2 to 2.25 hours per belt; but on average 2.5 hours is obtained.

2.3 What memory cards should be used?

Generally CF cards offer the best performance, they can provide data rates of several MBytes per second, for smooth video playback, and they offer large capacity sizes at low cost.
Other card types can be used, such as SM, SD, MMC, MS and MS Pro, but they generally have lower data transfer performance and may cause jumps in video playback, depending on the file type and resolution.

2.4 Can an Adscreen be connected to a battery belt while the belt is being charged?

It is not recommended, as damage could result.

3.1 No sound, no video, battery belt blue status LED ON

Check that a flash card is inserted into the media player, only one card at a time should be inserted.
Check that the flash card has a valid format video file stored on it.

3.2 No sound, no video, battery blue status LED OFF

Try charging the battery belt, fully charged the green LED should light.
Try another fully charges battery belt.
Check fuse on the Adscreen, replace with similar 5A 20mm slow-blow type only.

3.3 No sound, video OK, battery belt blue status LED ON

Check the power jack plug is located into the rear of the speaker which has the volume control.  If this jack has become loose the speaker blue LED will be OFF.
If the speaker blue LED is ON, then check the audio jack is plugged into the media player, this will require the metal cover on the media player to be removed.

3.4 Sound OK, no video, battery belt status LED ON

Check that the video jack is plugged into the media player, this will require the metal cover on the media player being removed.
Check that the VGA cable is connected securely, this will require the metal cover on the media player being removed.
